More turmoil at the 1950 Tour de france. Gino Bartali was assaulted by a group of French fans after winning stage 12. He and the rest of the Italian team, including Fiorenzo Magni who was in Yellow withdrew.  Ferdinand Kubler became the first Swiss rider to win the Tour.
